When it comes to helping budding small businesses take root, few do it better than SEEDS.
The Surrey-based Self-Employment and Entrepreneur Development Society, which has helped 1,800 entrepreneurs start new businesses or become self-employed since the non-profit organization started up in 1997, provides business support and mentoring to prospective new entrepreneurs who are unemployed residents of Metro Vancouver and EI-eligible.
A separate but similar program also helps new immigrants in the same category start new businesses.
