Area troops, veterans, reservists and military family members hoping to break into the world of entrepreneurship or expand their small business can learn about the opportunities available to them at a half-day conference in Jacksonville, organizers said.

The North Carolina district branch of the U.S. Small Business Administration will host the Aug. 5 event, the first of its kind in Jacksonville, with the help of regional sponsors, including Coastal Carolina Community College and the city. Though brief, the day’s pace will be brisk, with special focus on government contracting opportunities, financial assistance available specifically to veterans and their families and a few success stories from local veterans in business.
